A payment is not a hop.
A destination changes only after verified payment and a final check that the reserved replacement can still be honored.
Automatic refund path
If payment succeeds after the short-lived reservation expires, another replacement takes the slot first, or the final safety check fails, ONE HOP does not activate the destination. The payment enters the automatic full-refund path through the payment provider.
Duplicate provider notifications are idempotent. They cannot create a second hop or a second refund.
What the browser return means
The checkout success page is not proof of payment. It may show a waiting state until the signed provider webhook is received and verified. Do not treat a browser redirect as confirmation that you control the link.
